The Friendliest Little Church

Our Music

The Worship Choir at Fallsington United Methodist Church is a twenty-member ensemble that performs throughout the year during the worship services. Particular emphasis is placed on the Advent and Lenten Seasons as well as other important observances. The Choir rehearses regularly after the 9 a.m. worship service from September through May. Other rehearsals are called for as needed. New members are always welcome.

The Worship Choir takes an active part in the community by performing annually at the Fallsington Tree Lighting Ceremony and other events. The Choir can be heard on the church’s latest musical CD recording “A Fallsington Christmas,” which is available for sale in the church office and at the Historic Fallsington Society Store.

Edward Ferdinand, Minister of Music
Edward Ferdinand began his early piano studies at the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, where he was accepted on full scholarship, studying under international pianist, Jorge Bolet. Mr. Ferdinand made his solo debut with the Philadelphia Orchestra at age 15 and has since appeared as a soloist with numerous other symphonies. He has also made his Carnegie Hall debut at age 17 for the Leschetitzky Association. His performances include those for visiting dignitaries from abroad and from the White House.

Mr. Ferdinand was awarded first prize in the Gindhart Piano Competition and was also awarded a full Damrosch Scholarship to study at the Fontainebleau School of Music in France, under famed pedagogues Nadia Boulanger and Gaby Casadesus. Shortly after, he became a scholarship student of Martin Canin at the Juilliard School of Music in New York, where he holds the Bachelor of Music and the Master of Music Degrees. During his studies at Juilliard, Mr. Ferdinand received the Metropolitan Music School Award, one of Juilliard’s highest honors. He was also featured on the CBS-TV documentary “Juilliard and Beyond,” hosted by Charles Kuralt. He has performed on television talk shows and radio broadcasts.

In addition to his busy schedule, Mr. Ferdinand finds time to teach on the piano faculties of both the Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pennsylvania and the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, New Jersey, where he has many prize-winning students in both local and national competitions.
